Abstract
Background & Purpose: The purpose of this research was to investigate the relationship between the perception of parents' parenting styles and academic conscientiousness with the academic success of male students in Middle School in Gorgan. Method: The present research method is descriptive-correlational. The research population included all male students of Middle school in Gorgan in the academic year 2024-2025. A total of 360 people were selected as sample individuals using multi-stage cluster sampling method. The required information was collected by Wells's Standard Educational Achievement Questionnaire (2010); Burai's Parenting Styles (1991); McIlroy and Bunting's Academic Conscientiousness (2002) and analyzed by stepwise analysis of variance. Results: the results showed that there is a positive and significant relationship between the authoritative parenting style of parents and a negative and significant relationship between the authoritarian parenting style and the permissive parenting style with the academic success of students (P>0.01). On the other hand, a positive and significant correlation was observed between academic conscientiousness with academic success. Conclusion: Also, the results obtained from the regression test indicated that 37.4% of the academic success of first year male students in Gorgan city is predicted and explained by parents' parenting styles, academic conscientiousness.
